IF I DO IT WITH SAND, WHAT CAN I TAKE HOME?

This art is all about the art of letting go. The session aims at letting you take with you the precious gift of experiences and memories which is what will stay with you longer than any other materialistic item. That said, you are welcome to take as many pictures of the art as you like before you go.

IS THIS A RELIGIOUS BUDDHIST PRACTICE?

No. The Buddhist Practice of Manadala or Sand art as elaborated here https://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/buddhism/customs/mandala.shtml , takes years of practice and dedication. The MIndful Dot Art taught at DOTURMINDS at the core does teach one about Mindfulness and awareness of self along with introducing the modern world resident to slow down and soak in the moment. But the sessions at DOTURMINDS are in no way a religious practice. But DOTURMINDS does encourage people to use this practice to help pause and ground yourself .

WHAT KIND OF EXPERTISE DO YOU NEED TO HAVE TO TAKE THESE SESSIONS?

Anyone above the age of 6 years old is welcome through the doors of DOTURMINDS studio. You would just have to pick the classes appropriate to your needs.

WHAT AM I GUARANTEED IN TERMS OF MY EXPERIENCE?

All we ask is that you come in with an open mind to be a kid again. Promise that you will try your best to not be distracted while you are here. That’s all. And we promise that you will go back with a much clearer perspective on things that seem to have bothered you before you came in to let it all go through the sand.

DO YOU OFFER TEACHER TRAININGS?

Yes I am in the process of creating course materials for anyone to grab a copy of this practice along with the Kit so that they can use it in their setting at home or school or group training.

HOW DO I KNOW IF DOTURMINDS IS FOR ME?

We usually live our lives ordinarily going from one thing to another feeling we are not in control of anything. Because the mind responds to these impulses. Virtually all our lives we are at the mercy of  impulses that pull us this way and that. Without us wanting them or even when they are not necessary.

Do you feel like you want to reduce the number of times your mind is pulled in millions of directions?

Your answer is Practice of mindfulness. Mindfulness is about substituting awareness for in attentiveness. Mindfulness

Step1: Calm yourself down by focusing on something cyclical. Like your breathing which is the first thing that you do when you come into this world and the last thing you do when you leave the world. So the breath is always with you. So, first step is to get clarity. Remember that what we focus on we will feel directly.

ATTENTION —>INTENTION —>ATTITUDE

Step 2: Practice sitting with the moment. Like with the sound around you or the breeze you feel without making any judgements or letting the surroundings bother you or drag you into impulsive reactions. May be we will just give them names. Just observing the arising and passing of these emotions. Learning to be a spectator and not an actor for the stories in your head.

Over many sessions of practice, we can then equip ourselves with the power to give ourselves some mental space. Since except for the very few enlightened none of us can really empty our mind, the closest we can get to is being present in the moment. Learning to do so at our will is the hardest part, And that is where DOTURMINDS comes in.

During our sessions we use the tangible sand, the symmetric cyclical dots equally spaced to teach our mind MIndfulness. There are 3 stages.

  • Stage 1: Introduction to our Awareness how we pull it to the act of making the Dot art with pencil
  • Stage 2: Learning the Sand art
  • Stage 3: Learn to stay in the Flow of the MomentSay we are dealing with anger against someone or a situation. We learn to be with it. Not react to it.
